Why you should understand Metabolic Typing.

Metabolic Typing will help you eat a diet that is consistent with your body's make up. To feel good after a meal is very important. If you are bloated, sluggish, or have an upset stomach, you've made the wrong food choices for your type.

One way to avoid this common error is to know and understand what your metabolic type is. MY WHAT? I know, most of my coaching clients had never heard of this before.

3 Different Types

There are 3 different types. They are:
  • protein types

  • carb types

  • and mixed types.

This is one reason that people get different results from the same eating plan – we’re not all the same type. Once you know your type, it is much easier to plan a healthy diet that is in harmony with your body.

I am a mixed type (no comments from the back row please), meaning that either proteins or carbs suit me. I feel good no matter which one I eat, although my taste buds lean more toward protein.

I have noticed that I feel much better only eating one or the other at a meal. If I combine a starchy type carb with a protein I don't feel nearly as good as when I eat just one type food. Although, for me, the carbs in vegetables combine well with all foods.

For whatever reason I also lose weight faster when I don't eat proteins and carbohydrates (the more starchy ones) at the same time.

My Recommendation

The information that is coming out on nutrition now is almost overwhelming. There are all kinds of different aspects and theories to consider. You may find it interesting (as I do) to try and keep up with much of it. Often one thing conflicts with another.

The one thing that I know for sure is this - Your body will tell you what it likes if you listen to it. It also knows more about what it needs and likes, than any theory, researcher or scientist does.

Remember, you want to feel great after you're done eating - so pay attention to how you feel! Use that and your knowledge of typing to eat a healthier diet.
