Home Exercise Equipment
Home exercise equipment is not absolutely necessary for you to get a healthy workout, reduce body fat and build strength. You can do all these with
body weight exercises.
This equipment can add variety and more fun to your workout. Each piece of equipment has a specific benefit associated with it. Key to the recommendations on this page are these considerations. The machine or tool must be - low impact (easy on the joints) After a workout it's ok for the muscles to be tired or sore, but not the knees, ankles, shoulders, etc...
- simple in concept and in use
- benefit more than one body part or system
The Rebounder
This is quite possibly one of the healthiest things you can use to increase your wellness. While it does give you a cardio workout, it's claim to fame is that it works the lymphatic system up to 14 times more than normal. No other exercise even comes close. The lymphatic system serves to cleanse the body of “junk” (metabolic wastes), deliver nutrients, and fights viruses and bacteria. The Lymphatic System doesn’t have a pump like the circulatory system (the heart). Lymph fluid depends mainly upon muscular contraction to pump it through your body. It takes so little effort to perform, it's almost like cheating. I love recommending this to my
coaching clients
because it is so easy to continue with over time. You can see all the details on this piece of home exercise equipment at
the rebounder.
The Elliptical Trainer
This piece of home fitness equipment gives you a great cardio and overall body workout with almost no impact to your joints. The older you are the more important low impact exercising becomes.Having had many knee surgeries, and an ACL replacement, a shattered/severed achilles and shoulder surgery - I really look for workouts that don't leave me with sore joints. I can vouch for the elliptical trainers lack of impact. Whether you are walking forward or backward, you will notice that you get a smooth and enjoyable workout that is easy on the joints.
