This Healthy Smoothie
Tastes Great and
Is Great for You!

A healthy smoothie is a great way to get your day off to a tasty and healthy start. It also has the added benefit of taking only a couple minutes to make and clean up after.

I'm seldom in a hurry in the mornings so I take mine out on the deck and enjoy the start of a new day.

My favorite fruit smoothie first thing in the morning consists of:

. 2-3 free range raw eggs (stay with me on this, they're healthy)

. a banana

. frozen berries (raspberries, blueberries, and boysenberries)

. a big scoop of plain yogurt and

. if you like lemon, a tablespoon of Carlson's lemon flavored Cod Liver Oil

What more could a person need?

RAW EGGS!!!

Won't that give me salmonella? I've done this for years and I've never had a problem. I think this is an old wives' tale. Besides, I saw Rocky do it and he went out and almost won the heavyweight title!

An uncooked egg has all the nutrition that the chicken and mother nature could put in it. Once you cook them they taste great, but they lose some of their nutritional value in the process.

Other Options

You don't have to use frozen berries in your smoothie. In fact there is more nutrition in fresh fruit. You can add ice to give your healthy smoothie the consistency that is unique to them.

I cut off a chunk of Aloe vera from one of my plants and throw it in. It's great for your digestive tract. Some people skin the Aloe vera before putting it in the blender. I have a Vitamix so I speed the machine up and drop in a whole chunk.

I also like to put in the Cod Liver Oil (you can take it separately in a gel capsule) because of all it's health benefits (Omega 3 fats, Vitamin D, support for your joints, and much more).

You may not want to take Cod Liver Oil if you are getting lots of sun exposure. Sunlight is a great source of Vitamin D and the 2 of them together could be too much. I switch to Arctic Krill oil in the summer time. You still get the important Omega 3 fats without the extra Vitamin D. Arctic Krill Oil in the summer time.
