Drinking Soda
Would you believe the number 1 source of calories for the youth in America comes from drinking soda? It must be a good idea though, as it seems most schools have pop machines prominently displayed in the halls so that kids can get their fill.Why is this? Since most school board members are unpaid volunteers that have the kid’s best interest at heart, I believe that people in general don’t yet understand the harm pop does to a person’s system over time. Of course, there is also the fact that pop machines (and the pop manufacturing companies) contribute heavily to school budgets.
Pity the poor Teachers
Kids suffering from ADHD, ADD and the like are very much a problem with kids in school. Symptoms of these conditions include:- hyperactivity
- inattention and
- impulsivity
Does it cause you to wonder how many fewer kids would be hyper, inattentive and impulsive if they weren’t constantly drinking soda and filling up their tanks on caffeine and sugar? If caffeine and
sugar
were taken away from kids during school and the symptoms above were reduced, do you think the number of kids diagnosed with ADHD and ADD might go down? Hmmmm.
Ah, what's the big deal having a soda?
A recent study showed that women who drank one soda daily could increase their chances of type 2 diabetes by 85%.

The study also showed that the sugar and high caloric content in sodas increased the risk of developing obesity. Unless you've been living under a rock, you are aware that a very large percentage of our youth are obese.
Toxins
Benzene is a cancer causing chemical linked to leukemia. Benzene can form in beverages that contain vitamin C (ascorbic acid) and the preservatives sodium benzoate or potassium benzoate. Exposure to heat and light can trigger the formation. If you are drinking soda (or any other manufactured drink), please check the label to see that these combinations are not in your drink. I'll just have a diet soda!
I like to remind my
clients
that drinking diet soda is even more harmful to health. The
artificial sweetners
used in them should be totally avoided.
My Recommendation
Since there is absolutely no positive nutritional value in soda and many things that will harm you, wean yourself away from drinking pop.
Green Tea
is an excellent choice as it is a very healthy way to hydrate yourself.As always good, pure water will serve you and your health very well also.
