Lose your Belly Fat!

Belly fat can be systematically reduced and/or eliminated with a 3 pronged approach. The proper combination includes diet, exercise and detoxification. You can get rid of the fat around your midsection by understanding and using these 3 concepts.

The excess weight that we carry in the stomach area is very unhealthy. If you don't get rid of this fat, you may be one of the unlucky people to suffer the following health problems:

  • cardiovascular disease

  • certain cancers

  • type II diabetes and

  • problems with your internal organs.
So, losing belly fat is not only good for your self image, but important to your health.

Diet

As I tell my coaching clients, the healthy way to lose weight is to burn up more than you eat (you know, exercise and diet). When you are able to accomplish this, your body will make up the deficit by burning fat.

The typical American diet contributes to both weight gain and the body becoming toxic. If a large part of your diet consists of the following:

  • sugar

  • trans fats

  • high fructose corn syrup

  • junk food and

  • processed foods
you are likely to have a problem with weight and toxicity.

Another action the I recommend is to increase your knowledge of how foods react in your body. The more you know the further you will go in your trek to be healthy.

An invaluable tool for you to use is the Glycemic Index. Understanding the Index will help you make much more knowledgeable food choices. It can also guide you in training your body to burn fat instead of sugar for energy.

Exercise

Is there a miracle exercise or machine (only 3 payments of $39.99) that I can work at for 5 minutes a day that will magically burn belly fat and reduce my waist? Nope, sorry. That kind of thinking comes from advertisers spouting BS.

You can't "spot reduce" where you burn fat in one area. You have to take steps to reduce your overall body fat. Often when you're losing weight the fat around your middle comes off last.

The good news is that when you exercise you get a 2-fer. Exercising burns calories, which is one half of the "burning versus consuming" calories discussed earlier.

The second benefit is that exercise builds muscle and muscles require calories to function. So the muscle mass you create burns more calories even when you are not exercising. This allows you to eat more also (maybe I should have said you get a 3-fer).

What about abdominal exercises or crunches? They are great exercises, but by themselves they are not going to give you a flat stomach if there is a layer of fat covering them.

Detoxification

To lose weight as easily and efficiently as possible you need to get rid of the toxins and poisons in your system. The benefits of detoxing are:
  • the ability to lose weight more easily

  • improved digestion and

  • removing the toxins will reduce inflammation in the digestive system and result in losing inches in the stomach area.
With improved digestion your food will be burnt as energy, rather than stored by your body as fat.
